I really believe, that skincare is more important than makeup. Covering up imperfections doesn’t help because there are moments where you don’t want to wear makeup or concealer or powder or whatever. Imperfections are ok and I don’t think that a zit or a scar or any other “imperfections” makes someone less beautiful.
“I just think that taking care of your skin is essential for your general well-being.”
My skin story: I’ve never had severe acne (thank god) but I’ve always had and still have a zit here and there from time to time – normal hormonal issues. The thing I struggle with the most is the fact that my skin is very, very, very oily – if I don’t use powder my face shines like a disco ball. When I was younger I tried to “remove” the oil with very drying and mattifying products and …made it worse! I then thought “Why not try the exact opposite – drench my face in hydration!”. It worked – it still is oily AF but not as oily as it has been before. It´s more of a glow now.
First step – Remove Makeup and Cleanse:
So first things first – I remove my makeup with a micellar water. To be honest I always rotate between the Bioderma Micellar Water and the Garnier one (the pink bottle) – and both have been used up when taking those pictures. I simply wipe everything off my face with a cotton pad drenched in micellar water. Then I deep cleanse it with the Dr.Jart+ Dermaclear Micro Foam. It´s very bubbly and foamy and you really feel how clean your skin is afterwards even though it´s not drying at all.
Second step – Prepare skin for Serum:
I LOVE serums. I don’t know what it is but I just simply love the process of padding the serum on to my skin. Before applying the actual serum I use the Kiehl´s Iris Extract Activating Treatment Essence (what a name!). I put a few drops on my hands and pad it onto my face. Afterwards I apply the The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid Serum which feels a bit sticky at first but applies beautifully to the skin.
Third Step – Moisturizer + Eye Cream:
After the serum has settled into my skin I apply my moisturizer – I currently rotate between the Glossier Priming Moisturizer and the Kiehl´s Ultra Facial Cream. The Glossier one I find better for during the day and the Kiehl´s is basically a great all-rounder. Perfect for people who don’t want to have 5 different jars and pots in their bathroom. The eye cream I’m using is quite a newbie for me. I use the OLAY 7 eye transforming cream. It´s good so far – it helps with puffy eyes and dark circles – what more do I need anyway?! And its not as freaking expensive as most of the eye creams are.
To hydrate my skin during the day I spritz the Avène Eau Thermal onto my skin from time to time and if I fancy a bit of color I apply a few drops of the Clarins Bronzing Lotion the night before and wake up with glowy “sun kissed” skin.
