“Johannesburg is weird, because half of it is like Los Angeles. It feels like just wealthy parts of L.A. But half of it is severe slummy, something like Rio De Janiero or something. So it’s kind of weird, because it’s both happening at the same time.” – Neill Blomkamp.
Weird but dangerously beautiful – this city is one of the most divers, exciting and surprising cites I´ve ever been to. There´s so much to see, so many different cultures to explore and there are so many people (very friendly people!) and the food …can´t even think about it without my mouth watering. Last weekend we´ve been to Maboneng (Sotho for “place of light”) – basically the coolest Neighborhood in Johannesburg.
Maboneng is Africa´s answer to Williamsburg, Brooklyn in NYC.
